Director of Alternative Provisions and Commissioning – Vicki Grainger
Vicki oversees a wide spread team of Alternative Provisions (AP) for the Respect Collaboration of Schools. Internally co-ordinating the set up and maintenance of three provisions (Hair and Beauty, Construction and Outdoor Education) and more on the horizon, so that they continue to deliver high quality AP to the whole of Derby City and beyond. Externally, Vicki’s role sees her commission and quality assure further alternative providers, including Music, Sport, Equine, Therapy and Angling.
Vicki has developed a robust and highly regarded quality assurance service that many schools rely on to meet the DfE and Ofsted requirements for AP. Vicki’s Junction 16 team are a key part of this service to schools and ensure that the services offered are more than just a paperwork exercise. Vicki prides herself in the work the team do to build effective working relationships with schools to help students access the right provision for them to be able to succeed in their own educational journey.
Vicki’s work in the sector has previously received national recognition and more recently she has supported schools across the East Midlands in ensuring their alternative curriculum offer is ‘right’ for children, parents and the school. This often means challenging schools’ decisions on AP and working with them to consider something slightly different.
